Favorite Things January 9

Updated: Jan 10, 2023

Hey everyone! It’s Monday January 9th and these are my favorite things this week (scroll past the video for the entire transcript). And remember, as a member you can request any content you desire weekly! That includes reviews, sketches, etc. Don't be shy to mention it in our discord!

I’m often asked who my favorite comedians are and Julio Torres always inevitably makes the cut. In his special My Favorite Shapes, he sits in front of a conveyor belt and gives a brief and funny explanation about each shape that delivers him an object. It’s absurdist deadpan high concept performance art and it’s refreshing in the sense of being different from the loud, ranting, pacing stand up that we’ve all become so accustomed to that at this point we can predict each beat from the performer.

I’ve been really into cozy content AND d&d lately so Adventure Time has been making it’s way onto my screen much more frequently these evenings. It’s one of the shows that’s only KIND OF for kids and offers some much needed escapism that doesn’t come off as too saccharine.

Doggy Lane with Snoop gives us all the daily affirmations we need. Again, this is for kids but like is it? It’s an animated show that uses hip hop songs and dance to teach social, emotional and cognitive skills. It’s aimed at toddler to 8 year olds but I don’t know maybe some of us missed a lot that growing up and this makes those lessons a little more attainable.
